24 Electrons on a Sphere
red = 0.7177998 (24)
green = 0.7660127 (24)
blue = 0.7768039 (12)
Notice the 6 square regions and 8 equilateral triangles on the
surface. Also, notice that each vertex is identical, and the
edges are blue, red, red, green, green proceeding clockwise
when viewed from outside the sphere. This is the "right-handed"
version of this configuration. There is another version with the
opposite handedness, i.e., the clockwise sequence of edges meeting
at each vertex is blue, green, green, red, red.
Here is another version of this applet, allowing you to manually
re-orient the polyhedron by dragging it with the mouse.
